What to Pack and How to Pack it!
The following is a list of things to consider taking on a trip. Not everything is appropriate for every trip. You consider the weather, the activities in which you'll be involved, etc.
We strongly suggest taking only three items: a carry-on, a camera case and a hip pack. Be sure you place your NAME and TELEPHONE NUMBER both INSIDE and OUTSIDE all your luggage. This is absolutely ESSENTIAL if you do not want to lose it forever.

CARRY-ON
Use a standard size carry-on similar to the ones flight crews use. Choose a model with sturdy wheels and handle. You will find that a carry-on is sufficient on most trips. By not checking luggage, you won't have to worry about losing a bag and don't have to wait around for the luggage to be unloaded. You will find a carry-on much more manageable on bus tours, and it will get you into the hotel faster as well.

WHAT TO PACK

Baggies - 2 sizes. Large for laundry that hasn't dried, damp face cloth, etc. Medium and small for belts and other accessories such as jewelry, exposed film and bottles that might leak. Seperate bags, of course.

Flight Bag - this is a small, lightweight carry-on that can be folded flat and takes practically no room when it is placed on the bottom of your bag.

Clock with an alarm.

Clothing, Carry half in your carry-on, half in a partner's bag if traveling with someone. If one of the bags is lost, you will still have half your clothes. This should not happen if you have a carry-on or travel as part of a bus tour, but someone COULD take off with your bag by mistake.

Ear Plugs - great for flying in small commuter planes or on that bus trip - they can be noisy.

Flashlight - carry a small flashlight, it comes in handy during the night if you have to get up and don't want to disturb your traveling companions. You'll be waking in a unfamiliar room, don't chance walking into a table in the dark.

Gifts - you might wish to take gifts to give to local people as well as to hosts. If going to a foreign country, take something that is typical of your country.

Jacket, Hat and Gloves - if necessary, depending on destination's season. Check with your tour organizer for advice as everyone feels cold differently.

Sweater or light jacket - comes in handy where air-conditioners are turned very low.

Hair Dryer - with dual-voltage capability. Take only if there's doubt that one is available in the hotel. If you don't have one with dual-voltage, be sure you have a converter and the proper plugs for the countries you are visiting.

Laundry Bag - carry a plastic laundry bag for soiled or worn clothing. Most hotels have these, but your roomies may beat you to them.

Laundry Clips - have clips with hooks on end to hang up hose or under garments to dry.

Misc. - Needle, thread, safety pins, rubber bands, other related items.

Night clothes plus robe and slippers, if necessary.

Small Backpack - small one for times when you will not want to wear a hip pack.

Raincoat (plastic with hood) - better than umbrella, takes less space, and is excellent as a windbreaker.

Shoes - extra pair for walking.

Tights - a simple solution for very cold areas. They take very little room but provide much warmth.

Toothbrush Cap - a cap for over the brush takes much less room than conventional tooth brush holder.

Travel data Wet Ones - or something similar for cleaning hands before eating on plane. They come in handy other times, also.

HIP PACK
Wear a hip pack in place of carrying a purse. We have found that with just the three items and no purse, you can manage very well without any help. Wear the hip pack under clothing: under coat, jacket or blouse and in front of your body, not over hip in back or side. When worn this way, there's no need for a money belt. If women feel a need to carry a handbag, try the neat backpack types. They are much easier to handle on your back rather than a purse. Also, you can still carry it by the handle in your hand. (If you elect to wear a small backpack on your back, be sure to place valuables elsewhere on your person or in camera case.)

 Comb  Pen
 Credit cards  Scissors/knife (collapsible)
 Frequent Flyer cards  Tickets
Lipstick and lip balm  Travelers Checks
 Medication  Vouchers
Mirror, small  Wallet (small for travel)
 Money  Sunscreen
 Passport  Thermometer
 Extra Eyeglasses/Contacts

CAMERA BAG
One of the most important thing to carry on a trip is your camera. The following additional items packed in your camera bag are so they will be handy when you need them. Keep the camera bag at your feet, never in overhead bins.

Extra batteries Eye shades
Camera Film
Pillow - inflatable for long overnight travel Book - paperback to read while traveling
Ear plugs - for sleeping

As you travel, you have to keep track of only three items: carry-on, camera Bag, and hip pack. Wear or carry a coat or jacket and your watch. Naturally, we do not mean for you take every item listed here. Review your travel itinerary and the climate in the area you plan to visit and pack accordingly.
